So... daemons. Animal of a different gender from yours = your soul. Tag one of the characters on here with a starter, post your own with or without a request for one of mine or play here as you like.
Itzy skitters up the back of the couch to hiss out a quick 'thank you' before she goes to investigate the rest of the room. She's shy, doesn't generally talk to people without being spoken to first.
"I appreciate it."
He takes the coffee (black, with three sugars) and lets his hand skim her arm in thanks.
Her fingertips linger on his and she gives him a smile that someone else might describe as wry. But this smile, it reaches her eyes. Beside her, the raven sighs, his feathers falling back to smooth.
"You know you're both always welcome here," Dade says. Human words sound like graveled silk on his tongue. "Any hour of the day."
"Yes, thank you, I'm sure he knows that," Ari adds, her gaze dropping to her mug. It's the steam making her cheeks color. Must be. "Itzy, there's a little box in the window you might like."
The little box is made of terracotta, warmed by the sun, filled with a soft white sand. The flower in it is fake, but it's the thought that counts, right?
Itzy heads straight for it, moving like she's swimming through sand. It's not as fast when she's not, but she still flickers her way into the box easily enough. And once she's there, it's clear she's happiest being there.
"Thanks," he says again as he sips at his coffee. Then he throws off a salute to Daedalus.
Dade gives him an imperious look and preens a feather that seems to be out of place. A moment later, he rises, stretches one black wing, and then hopglides over to the window. Resisting curiosity is not his strong suit.
He has to cock his head to peer down at the ripples in the sand, but observing seems more important than subtlety.
"I found another shipment of books. Stories mostly. A few atlases for places I've never even heard of. One of them was a visual guide to Terran geology, thought you might enjoy. I set it aside for you."
"Found?" he asks as he sips at his drink, watching the two daemons at it before turning back to her. "Though I definitely would be. I'm curious to see what Terra's like compared to what I know."
The corner of her mouth lifts and she gives him a languid blink.
"What? It fell off a ship." She leans over to the side table and picks up a heavy leather-bound tome. "Here. It's not complete. Turns out their equipment doesn't function below a certain depth in the atmosphere."

Lucky her.
