corkscrewed: back from the trip
[ continued from the events detailed here ]
[ They're back. And of course, it's back to the Institute. With the jetlag and the time changes, it's kind of a blur when they get there.
Regardless, Jon had gone right up to Elias's office and there'd been a Discussion that had happened there, one which had been conducted very quietly and very much with the door closed. Jon had come back, looking satisfied but anyone actually watching would note that his hand remained clenched tight into a fist along his side for a few hours afterwards at certain intervals.
Jon 'shares' the news with everyone as to what that might have been about by walking in from said meeting, making his way over to Martin's desk, leaning over, pressing a kiss into his hair, reminding him to be careful with his arm, and slipping into his office. Which is, possibly the worst way to do such a thing but when has Jon ever worried about doing things the worst possible way don't answer that.
This led to some shouting outside of the office but Jon has work to do and Martin knows where he is if he needs anything. He's handled the worst of it; as he'd told him before, Martin would be the one responsible for handling the, er, the rest.]

[ martin hesitates, and then adds- ]
This is all still a little surreal, isn't it. Me and you.
no subject
[ Really, Martin. This is so much of an upgrade from the usual sort of surreal that it might as well be on another planet.]
I've certainly had a wobble or two adjusting, but it's a pleasant sort of wobble. [ A little more seriously. ] Even something like dinner.

I'm not complaining, mind. I'm just... glad you want to spend your free time around me. That's all.
no subject
Who you are, who you really are, is exactly the sort of person I enjoy spending time around. [ There's a wry smile as he shakes his head.] I'll have to introduce you to Georgie sometime.
no subject
[ jon's ex, sure, but also probably jon's only friend. he's actually, strangely, touched that jon would suggest that. ]
Are you about ready to go?
no subject
[ But he lifts his travel cup to show Martin that yes, he's quite ready to go. He's just waiting on Martin. They don't really need to rush, after all, since he'd found something for Martin to wear and it wasn't as if there were official hours at the moment. They were all coming in because they needed to. Mostly today would be for trying to hunt down Daisy to see if she knows how to get things set up with the, er, the supplies.]
Ready when you are.
no subject
[ he stands up then, stretching one last time and shooting what is honestly a mournful look in the direction of jon's bedroom. ]
Lead the way, Jon.
[ is he ready to face the cold? no. will he follow jon anywhere? always. ]

Thanks. [ he glances behind him when they make it to the door. ] Goodbye, Jon's flat. Hopefully you'll be warmer the next time I visit.
no subject
Hopefully not since it won't warm up until the summer.
[ And that is... that is a sweet, almost positive-looking smile.]
no subject
[ he can't resist: he leans down to kiss him, sweetly, just once, when he finishes fussing with his clothes. ]
I'll- look forward to that, too.
no subject
Best you do.
[ Then he reaches over to open the door, slip out, and hold it for Martin to come through before he locks it up.]

it's hard not to smile, not to seem like he's in as good of a mood as he is now that he really feels like he's standing beside jon, not chasing his affections from half a mile back.
he's smiling all the way to the office. ]
no subject
He smudges a kiss to Martin's cheek before he goes, but he does close the door. He's due a little alone time, though hopefully Martin won't take that personally.]
