later that night....
It's been a wonderful evening.
They'd gotten to the restaurant, had an amazing meal, gone out to see a musical that was more fun than it had any right to be, and finally they'd decided to head home, mostly because the musical had left them high with energy but a little tired of the crowds and it wasn't as if they didn't enjoy each other's company. He lets her out at the front of the house to go right in, then goes inside to park the car and make his way back to the living room, looking for Harley as he goes.

She's in the living room when he makes his way back in, arms wrapped around her middle and absently humming one of the catchier numbers from the show they'd seen as she surveys a shelf of curios. At the sound of footsteps, she glances back over her shoulder, offering him a brilliant smile. "Some night, huh? I'm still totally wired, no idea how I'm gonna get to sleep tonight."

More because of him than because of her, though he wonders if she'd think of it that way. That he's wondering if he'll ever be the kind of person that could really support a relationship the right way, be good for her the way she's good for him.
When she smiles back at him, he feels something flutter in his chest. When she asks him the question, it takes him a moment to think before-
"Yeah, I mean, I never sleep anyway, but... I don't want it to end."
The night, he means.
